15 years of supporting our Golden Oldies

Dear Zimbabwe Pensioner Support Fund Supporters and Friends,

Firstly let me say wow – Can you believe that Hannes has been taking up food to pensioners in Zimbabwe now for 15 years. One man with a dream -  Incredible if I must say so. For those who have been supporting us for a long time you have seen the regular trip reports, read all about the challenges, trials and loses we have had. This is not an easy undertaking by any means. But with everyone’s support out there and your continued prayers we are managing to keep doing what we do.

As the 2016 financial year comes to an end for us as a fund I realize that more than usual we have really had a difficult year to date in the sense that some months the expenditure far exceeded the funds income, but we managed to make it work and keep the wheels turning. It is just difficult when we receive so many requests for support and having to say no is one of the hardest things to do. But most people are affected by the current economic crunch and we are doing the best we can. We have been supporting pensioners in Zimbabwe for the past 15 years. Over the years the Zimbabwe Pensioner Support Fund has gone from supporting 1 pensioner to currently supporting just over 1450 pensioners with an apple box filled with non-perishable food in 28 old age homes / organizations  throughout Zimbabwe. This is only about 60% or so of the pensioners that need help. We also assist similar organizations called "S.O.A.P" (Support Old Age Pensioners) in Bulawayo and have helped to set up a system similar to SOAP in Gweru, Zvishavane, Masvingo, Red Cliff, Kwe Kwe and Kadoma to cater for pensioners that are not in old age homes as well as various kitchens. As far as we are aware we are the largest Non-Government organization still supporting pensioners still in Zimbabwe who lost everything when the Zimbabwe dollar ceased to exist.

The food hampers serve 2 purposes.

1   They supply much needed food to the pensioner.

2   The pensioner then knows that someone cares about them

Please find in good order a quick update on what the fund is currently up to as well as Atties trip report for February 2017 our first trip for the year.

Once again we are busy getting everything in order for our upcoming April / Easter trip. If anyone has contacts for Beacon Marshmallow Easter Eggs we would greatly appreciate it. We are looking at having to purchase just over 80 boxes. This is just a small celebration for our Golden Oldies. One which many of us get to take for granted.

A huge THANK YOU to all our supporters out there who continue to enable us to keep doing what we are doing. Your support is invaluable to us and we at the ZPSF would never be able to sustain our regular supply of relief parcels if it were not for donations such as yours. You our Donors ensure our wheels keep turning, you are all truly amazing. THANK YOU and God Bless.

WHO KNOWS by Johnny Nel of Masvingo Who knows... that South Africa and other countries help Zimbabwe. Who knows... that someone had a burden to help the old and needy. Who knows... of the work that goes into packing a food box. Who knows... how hard all the staff worked. Who knows....
