Zimbabwe Pensioner Support Fund raises funds to support destitute pensioners in Zimbabwe with food parcels and essential items. ZPSF is entirely funded by the public.

ZPSF Christmas 2018 Trip report

Firstly let me say wow – Can you believe that Hannes has been taking up food to pensioners in Zimbabwe now for 17 years. One man with a dream - Incredible if I must say so. For those who have been supporting us for a long time you have seen the regular trip reports, read all about the challenges, trials and loses we have had. This is not an easy undertaking by any means. But with everyone’s support out there and your continued prayers we are managing to keep doing what we do. As most are aware 2018 was a difficult / emotional year for the fund, but we are still here and on we shall go no matter what.

A Note of Thanks from a happy parcel recipient –

 “Hello Hannes and Team,

A sincere thank you for the groceries received on the 6th December.  Very welcome and nothing wasted. Thanks and appreciation for all the hard work that you all put into the preparation for these deliveries.

A very special thank you for the lovely travel bag.  It was SO USEFUL and will remain so for when travelling again. The lovely big owl eyes drew many comments including one that said some people are scared of those eyes.  I can only smile at that.

I pray that this new year with all its challenges for each and every one in the Team also all the people of South Africa and Zimbabwe will bring its blessings but that all the problems be overcome.  All this I pray in the Name of our Lord Jesus.

The year ahead of us is not reserved for our two countries only but has a very far wider aspect throughout the world.  Together with all the news from newspapers etc. the Bible is the most accurate pointer and how we need to take our lessons and direction from It.

With love and sincere appreciation,

Antoinette.  “

Please find in good order a quick update on what the fund is currently up to as well as Daniel Koekemoer’s trip report for Christmas 2018. A big Thank You to Daniel for once again being able to come to our rescue. You truly are a life saver.

The office opened on Monday the 7th and the first while has been spent catching up on everything missed during our shutdown. We are aware of the building tensions and delicate situation for the last while and already at the end of last year we submitted paperwork to do bulk stock take ups early this year. We were however not quite expecting the current situation/tension and are waiting to see what happens next, so that we can plan our way forward. We have the required paperwork in hand and are on standby to leave Malelane ASAP and get the parcels and stock up to our Golden Oldies. The situation in Zimbabwe is dire for everyone not just our pensioners, please keep them all in your thoughts and prayers. At this stage I am just busy trying to fundraise the funds required to purchase the USD required to pay the 40% and 15% VAT on the stock to get it through the border. With the bulk purchasing done the last while our kitty which is normally there for the January through March “dry” months has basically been depleted. Below I have attached a list of stock bought to be taken up soon. So once again we manage to start a New Year with lots of challenges ahead. This will once again make my job as fund raiser for the Fund a lot more challenging this year. But I am looking forward to it and know and have faith all our supporters of our Golden Oldies will help me meet this challenge. We will still however be packing the boxes in Bulawayo as this just makes the border crossings easier. We are aware of the current shortages and all the help and aid needed and are doing the best we can with what we have. Unfortunately, we can also not put our drivers lives in danger. We currently have a waiting list of more than a 100 Golden Oldies who desperately need help and the list keeps growing. It breaks our hearts to have to tell people we just cant assist at this stage.

The food hampers serve 2 purposes.

1   They supply much needed food to the pensioner.

2   The pensioner then knows that someone cares about them

A huge THANK YOU to all our supporters out there who continue to enable us to keep doing what we are doing. Your support is invaluable to us and we at the ZPSF would never be able to sustain our regular supply of relief parcels if it were not for donations such as yours. You our Donors ensure our wheels keep turning, you are all truly amazing. THANK YOU and God Bless.
